PETALING JAYA: As the Skywalker saga draws to a close, Malaysian fans are gearing up for a big finale. From monitoring the sale of tickets for early screening sessions to getting their cosplay outfits ready, fans of Star Wars will be out in “force” this time for the finale. Natalie Kok, 28 who secured her ticket for the opening night is now planning on re-watching the entire eight films of the Skywalker saga before its conclusion. “I will definitely be re-watching all the movies and making my ‘pilgrimage’ to Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur to see the Millennium Falcon. I am also currently planning my outfit. “It’s probably a Rey and Kylo T-shirt with the Sith red and Jedi blue to go with it, ” she said. Kok said she had been chatting with fellow fans and enthusiasts on social media about the coming film. “We are having so much fun in group chats, following press tours and counting down to the release date. We are all watching the movie on Dec 18 or Dec 19, ” said Kok. Another fan who only wants to be known as Mitra, 32, is also looking forward to the release of the finale. “I am super psyched to know how this trilogy will end. I can’t wait to find out who Snoke is and what Rey’s future will hold, ” said Mitra.Others are prepared to be blown away by the film even before its worldwide release now that JJ Abrams is back in the director’s seat.“I am excited to see the conclusion of the trilogy, ” said a fan, who only wants to be identified as Tan. The 27-year-old liked The Force Awakens but thought The Last Jedi was just “alright”. “I hope The Rise of Skywalker can turn things around for me, ” he said. Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club will be celebrating the arrival of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as well as its anniversary with fans across the country at its “Star Wars – Skywalker’s Endgame Event” at the school, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya on Dec 15. “The event is open to all. Apart from coming together to celebrate, we will also have a panel discussion on expectations for the upcoming Episode IX. “There will be a cosplay walkabout, lightsabre performance and Skywalker trivia, ” said SWMFC president, Sanjiv Indran. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker marks the end of the Skywalker saga and the Star Wars sequel trilogy following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017). It is set to be released in cinemas nationwide on Dec 19.
